　　The Mihaljevic Lab within the School of Informatics, Computing, andCyber Systems (SICCS) in beautiful Flagstaff, AZ is seeking a DataScientist, Senior to support projects funded by the National Institutesof Health (NIH) related to the spread of infectious disease.Specifically, the Data Scientist, Senior, will develop and implementcutting-edge statistical algorithms, models, and analytic techniques toreveal how features of human populations (e.g., demographics) influencetransmission rates and disease outcomes, and how human mobility patternsinfluence the diffusion of diseases across real-world geographies. Thesuccessful candidate will work closely with faculty, staff, and studentsin Computer Science and Mathematics & Statistics to devise analyticspipelines for analyzing complex spatial epidemiological data, with theirwork contributing to the improved responsiveness of public health in theface of emerging epidemics.

　　While much initial and overall guidance will be provided, keyrequirements are the ability and curiosity to generate novel insightsand analytics methods, and to manage sub-projects within the scope ofthe research program. The Data Scientist, Senior will provide creativeinput to solve the many challenges encountered in innovation andresearch, while also completing research products in the form of writtenreports and oral presentations, and mentoring junior research assistantsin the lab.

　　Due to the intensely collaborative nature of interdisciplinary researchefforts, this position is in-person, on location in our researchfacilities on the NAU campus; remote work is not an option for thisposition.

　　Builds and deploys predictive models to perform data analysisutilizing machine learning and other cutting-edge methods.Utilizes advanced computer and data science concepts, computationalresearch and development principles to contribute to researchobjectives.Works collaboratively with research team to develop new methods andanalytical algorithms to address primary research questions.Keeps appropriate records of all research activities.Designs and implements research protocols and adapts new procedures,methods, and coding as appropriateCommunicates team\'s progress and findings o researchers, PrincipalInvestigators and other research related staff utilizing datavisualizations and comprehensive reports.Participates in scientific discussions with other members of theresearch team and lab, and attend lab and project meetings.Data Management - 35%

　　Leads the obtainment, organization, analysis, and transformation ofdata into findings through statistical data analysis.Researches and evaluates data sources to determine their suitabilitywith respect to research goals and vision.Collects, analyzes, and interprets raw and complex data and providesdata-driven advice or insights based on findings.Maintains organized, open, and accessible records of data andcomputer code, using version control softwareDevelops efficient data analysis pipelines and/or tools asappropriate to project goals.Constructs complex but accessible graphics to display and presentdata.Lab Liaison - 10%
