About the Department
The Section of Genetic Medicine continues to shape the future ofpersonalized medicine with successful research programs focused on thequantitative genetic and genomic science. The Section provides extremelyvaluable collaborations with investigators in the Department of Medicinewho are seeking to develop new and more powerful ways to identifygenetic risk factors for common, complex disorders with almost immediateclinical application. The Section of Genetic Medicine conducts impactfulinvestigations focused on quantitative genetics, systems biology andgenomics, bioinformatics and computational biology.
Job Summary
The Liu lab at the Section of Genetic Medicine is looking for a DataScientist specializing in data science and functional genomics. The Liulab is interested in understanding how genetic variation affect genomicfunction and diseases, by using multi-omic data and developing powerfulstatistical methods (lab website: https://liulab.uchicago.edu/). We arelooking for candidates with solid background in statistics orcomputational biology or genetics/genomics and strong interests infunctional genomics or statistical genetics. If interested, pleaseprovide three references and writing samples of two manuscripts.
Responsibilities
Lead and assist research projects that integrates multi-omic data,statistical tool development and computational analyses tounderstand the molecular mechanisms of disease associated geneticvariation.Responsibilities may include the following laboratory duties: methoddevelopment; data exploration; computational analyses; presenting atgroup meetings and departmental level seminars.Responsibilities may also include the following non-laboratoryduties: provide training support to other lab members.Analyzes moderately complex data sets for the purpose of extractingand purposefully using applicable information.Provides professional support to staff or faculty members indefining the project and applying principals of data science inmanipulation, statistical applications, programming, analysis andmodeling.Performs other related work as needed.Minimum Qualifications

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in relatedfield.

PhD degree in genetics or statistics or computational biology orcomputer science.Experience:
