Curriculum Advisor - Running Start
SALARY:$36,072 - $40,512
LOCATION:Lynnwood, Washington
DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of the Running Start Curriculum Advisor position is to support Running Start students in enrolling, educational goal-setting, and persisting in the program, to execute other tasks required to support and maintain the Running Start program as assigned by the Director of Running Start (organizational chart). This position directly supports the College's mission of "Teaching, Learning, Community" by providing guidance and access to higher education for the community. This position is vital to the functioning and success of the Running Start Office because the Advisor recruits new applicants into the program, retains current students, and promotes the achievement of educational goals for Running Start students. The individual in this position must exhibit an appreciation of, a sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds. This includes a demonstrable understanding and acceptance of the mission, values, goals and objectives of Edmonds College, and acceptance of the responsibility to promote the welfare and best interests of students at all times. As a member of the Running Start staff, this position has extensive involvement with students, staff, the public, and high schools to support the operation of college programs.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Facilitate meetings to teach students how to navigate the college environment and access campus resources.Engage students in goal-setting and linking goals to educational opportunities, including transfer and career planning.
Give presentations to prospective students and parents; participate in career and college fairs and student orientations.
Evaluate and advise students of course requirements to graduate from high school, using high school equivalency guides.
Refer Running Start students to the Advising Resource Center for degree-specific advising.
Monitor academic performance and support the Academic Policies process for Running Start and provide support to students on probation or suspension
Assist in development, preparation and updating of advising materials
Understand campus and community resources and serve as referral agent for students needing academic and pers
