THE POSITION

Are you a detail-oriented person with a strong interest in helping others? The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) is seeking a Spanish-speaking Criminal Justice System Specialist 2 to join our amazing team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing financial reimbursement and other compensation-related services to victims of crime, their significant others, and other claimants. By joining our mission to enhance the quality, coordination, and planning within the criminal and juvenile justice systems, you will help facilitate the delivery of services to victims of crime and increase the safety of our communities. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Criminal Justice Systems Specialist 2, you will be responsible for determining the validity of claims, deciding on the course of action for each case, and preparing the appropriate reimbursements for victims and claimants. You will also assist Spanish-speaking individuals in cases where the Language Line is not an option. Your role will be to ensure that victims receive the rights and services provided by law, and that these services are consistent with the victims services and procedures. Additionally, you will provide on-site technical assistance to victim service programs throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, with a focus on improving and implementing direct compensation services for victims. You will have an opportunity to provide information and guidance on how to better serve victims and their needs.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week

Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 4 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year as a Criminal Justice System Specialist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration);or

Two years of professional experience in criminal or juvenile justice, law enforcement, or victim services, and a bachelor’s degree in the social or behavioral sciences, criminal justice, law enforcement, or a related field;or

One year of professional experience in criminal or juvenile justice, law enforcement, or victim services, and a master’s degree in the social or behavioral sciences, criminal justice, law enforcement, or a related field;or

An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

This particular position also requires the selected candidate to be able to read, write, and speak in Spanish. You may be contacted for a Spanish speaking proficiency evaluation conducted by the Bureau of Talent Acquisition, PA Office of Administration. If contacted, you must pass the speaking evaluation in order to be deemed eligible for this position. Your proficiency in reading and writing in Spanish must be demonstrated during the probationary period to achieve regular status in the position.
