Election Assistant Worker
$15.00/ HourThis part-time, temporary position allows for a maximum of 1,000 hours per calendar year. It does not include any benefits.Duties:
Assists the Elections Administrator and/or Elections Coordinator with the elections.May be responsible for checking in local clerks the night of the elections; assisting the Board of Canvassers in canvassing the elections up to 14 calendar days; and assisting the Board of Canvassers in recounts.This description is intended to illustrate the type and level of work being performed by persons assigned to this job. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.Must be a qualified and registered elector of the State of Michigan.Individuals over the age of 18 years must be registered voters.Successful applicant is subject to a background check, including a criminal history check and fingerprinting; may not have a felony or election crime conviction.May not be an election challenger, a candidate, a member of a candidate's immediate family, or a member of the local board of canvassers.Due to state statue, in order to ensure balanced staffing, employees in this position must declare a political party affiliation that is recognized by the state; may not be independent.Required Knowledge and Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong attention to detail. Desired Experience:
Prior experience with conducting local elections.
