  DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a Cook 1, you will perform specialized cooking and baking tasks. Duties include operating kitchen equipment; cleaning and sanitizing cooking utensils and equipment; maintaining recipe files; preparing food items for both regular and therapeutic diets; preparing meals for special events such as banquets, meetings and parties; and assisting in the training of new cooks.

  Work Schedule and Additional Information:Part-time employmentWork hours include varying days and shifts along with rotating days and weekends. Shifts will include a 30-minute lunch and may be:5:00 AM to 1:30 PM10:00 AM to 6:30 PMSalary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiableYou will receive further communication regarding this position via email. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.  REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONSDesirable Preparation for Work:Experience in cooking or quantity food preparation; orAny equivalent combination of experience and/or training.Additional Requirement:

  Preferred Qualifications:Completion of education related to foods, nutrition, dietetics, food service, or institutional managementFormal baking trainingPossession of licenses or certificationsCertification in ServSafe or other food safety related certificationsExperience as a baker in a large volume preparation operationExperience using and converting standardized recipesExperience mixing, proofing, and finishing yeast raised products in a large scale service operationExperience baking and decorating cakes and pastriesExperience in paid food service operations for geriatric and/or physically ill patient/resident populationsLegal Requirements:A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.How to Apply:
