PRIMARY FUNCTION:Repair and maintain a variety of electronic instrumentation utilizing trouble-shooting skills and manufacturer's information. Perform other engineering support duties which require the planning, layout, analysis and verification of engineering data, information, and equipment.Perform work of equal or lower skill level as required.
THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL MAJOR TYPICAL JOB DUTIES BUT THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT PRECLUDE THE PERFORMANCE OF OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT, NOR THE QUESTION BEING RAISED ON THE PROPER RATE OF PAY FOR THE ASSIGNMENT.1. Assist in the preparation of test and electrical equipment specifications following established guidelines.2. Fabricate and wire electronic devices working from drawings, wiring diagrams and/or sketches3. Perform a variety of software and hardware testing4. Detect errors and notify engineering and planning when changes need to be made.5. Perform rework on systems, as necessary.6. Repair a variety of electronic instruments, applying established general trouble-shooting techniques and procedures. Document results as required.7. Travel to vendor or customer sites for installation testing and repairs.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:Associate's degree in Electronics or Electrical programRecognized technical programs will be permitted to substitute for the required formal education. Some examples of acceptable technical programs would be the Naval Nuclear or other military program.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:Four years of related experience. For upgrades within ladder, one of the two years required experience must be as a Code 9 Engineering Aide-Electrical
