As a Department Manager, you will collaborate with a fantastic andhigh-functioning leadership team that guides our office of 100+professionals across materials testing, geotechnical, environmental, andfacilities services in employee mentorship, market strategy, and clientdevelopment. General Responsibilities:Lead the team. Ensure project managers and staff perform quality work andcomplete projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with theclient's requirements and our company policies, procedures, andstandards. Provide oversite and mentoring with the team on preparation ofproposals and cost estimates to clients to ensure proper scoping ofservices, staff availability, and pricing. Supervise the daily operationsof the department including safety of our team above all else, staff careerdevelopment (i.e., training, mentoring, and performance review),utilization of equipment and facilities, quality of services and workproduct, timely delivery of services and deliverables, and adherence topolicies and procedures. Work with the department leaders on businessdevelopment activities to identify, develop, win, and execute projectopportunities and build and maintain client relationships.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules andguidelines. Responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment;demonstrates safety practices.Prepares and oversees the preparation of complex proposals and cost estimates.Prepares and participates in client and proposal related presentations.Directs the short-range business development activities of all departmentpersonnel to ensure that adequate fees are available to support the manpoweron the payroll.Plan for and execute the recruitment, selection, training, mentoring,and development of all employees in the department.Prepare the department annual business plan.Oversee and manage the success of the key department metrics of revenuegrowth, staff chargeability, project billing and collections, andproject profitability.Understand and manage project-related risks. Be familiar with what could gowrong on a project and how to mitigate risks. Be familiar with company riskpolicies.Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitorquality standards and practices. Engage other professionals in theorganization on complex projects at their onset to ensure project quality isdelivered.Requirements:Bachelor's degree in technical discipline practiced by the Firm includingEngineering, Environmental Science or Geology and 10 years' practiceexperience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 14 years' relatedexperience.Master's degree or PhD preferred.Previous supervisory experience required, and previous managerial experiencepreferred.Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.PreferredCertification:Certification or licensure in field of expertise (PEpreferred). erracon's Total Rewards program is an important way we createan engaging workplace for you, define and acknowledge success and give youways to explore new avenues for your career.
