  Description

  Under the general direction of the Foreman or Journeyman, the Construction Electrician (CE) is able to get experience in the electrical trade by performing a broad range of duties related to construction work. A Construction Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in construction projects. This role involves working on various types of buildings, including commercial and industrial structures. The Construction Electrician ensures that electrical installations are completed in compliance with safety codes and regulations. Essential Job Functions

  Install and wire electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, electrical panels, switches, outlets, and circuit breakers, according to blueprints, electrical codes, and project specifications.

  Identify and resolve electrical problems, such as faulty wiring, malfunctioning equipment, and circuit overload. Repair or replace defective components as needed.

  Adhere to safety regulations and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Follow electrical codes and standards to maintain compliance and minimize hazards.

  Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine the layout and wiring of electrical systems. Collaborate with other construction professionals to ensure accurate installation.

  Inspect and maintain electrical equipment, including generators, motors, transformers, and control systems. Perform routine maintenance and repairs to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

  Install and connect electrical wiring to power sources, such as utility lines or generators. Ensure proper distribution of electrical power throughout the construction site.

  Route and secure electrical cables, wires, and conduits, ensuring neat and organized installations. Label wires and cables for easy identification and future maintenance.

  Coordinate with construction teams, including contractors, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and other electricians, to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of projects.

  Requirements

  Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.

  Must maintain a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

  Excellent organizational and time management skills required.

  Familiarity with electrical tools, equipment, and testing instruments.

  In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and safety procedures.

  Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and electrical schematics.

  Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with precision.

  Good communication and teamwork abilities.

  This is a physical job, requiring the ability to walk, bend, climb, sit and stand. Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds with assistance, must be able to frequently lift 10-25 pounds, and occasional lifting overhead of up to 20 pounds. Must be able to use hands and arms to operate basic tools. Must be able to see, hear and speak within normal ranges with or without aids. Work will be performed indoors as well as on construction sites, subject to outdoor environment and temperatures. The ability to navigate rough terrain and use a ladder is required.

  Must be able to work 8 hours per day, with some occasional workdays of 10-12 hours.
