The City of Natchez seeks a collaborative and creative individual to join our Parks and Recreation Department. Our ideal candidate should be motivated, not afraid to engage in conversation, and enjoy recreation.
This position as our Community Center/Recreation Coordinator will coordinate the use of the community center facilities and park shelters, provide assistance with recreational programming by managing participant registrations, providing on-site program supervision, and answering program questions. On-site program supervision to include nights and weekends as needed. Decisions within the area of responsibility are made collaboratively with the Community Center/Recreation Director. Supervision received is general and overall work plans are discussed with periodic review of the progress. There is frequent interaction with the public.

Responsibilities:
Serve as the first point of contact to the public for questions regarding the community center, recreation programs, and park shelter rentals.Prepare promotional and other written correspondence for the community center and recreation programs. Manage reservations for the community center and park shelters, including the collection of fees.Assist in the acquisition of program supplies.Inspect shipments of supplies and sign invoices.Handle counter operations and cash register.Process registrations for recreational programs, maintain recreation management software.Conduct tours of the community center for prospective customers. Instruct users on rules and regulations of Community Center room rentals.Maintain the Recreation Department social media accounts. Evening and weekend work required per seasonal programming needs.Assist the Community Center/Recreation Director with the preparation of Community Center rooms for meetings and events.Assist with Community Center/Recreation Director by preparing training and instructional materials for volunteer coaches, program instructors, sports officials, and seasonal program staff. Other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Coordinator Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required.Additional college-level coursework in the recreation field desired. Experience in recreation or working with youth programs desired.Must possess a valid Mississippi Driver's License and maintain during the entire course of employment.Supervisory Requirements:
Assist Community Center/Recreation Director with the supervision of program instructors, sports officials, and seasonal program staff.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of rules for a variety of sports such as basketball, baseball/softball, soccer, tennis, and volleyball preferred.Knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn other computer software used in recreation management.Ability to work well with parents, children, and the public.Must demonstrate a high level of initiative and creativity in completing tasks.Ability to lift tables, chairs, and recreation equipment.May be required to use personal vehicle for transportation on occasion.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City elected and appointed officials, employees, and the public.Ability to foster cooperation and teamwork among peers.Ability to identify and analyze problems, evaluate alternative solutions, and make sound judgments, especially in stressful situations.Physical Demands:
