Some of what you'll be doing:
This is a full-time summer, and part-time school year internship opportunity expected to last one year. As an intern you will assist the Mechanical Systems Engineers with daily operations throughout the facility, including researching and documenting mechanical systems including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, elevators/escalators, and baggage handling systems, and coordinating with other trades on any Port of Seattle critical mechanical systems.
Research record documents such as plans, specifications, and technical reports to verify existing equipment and infrastructure locations and capacities.
Assist developing and managing infrastructure projects.
Field verification involving mechanical areas, construction sites, and equipment rooms.
Edit drawings and Excel spreadsheets for existing mechanical systems throughout SeaTac Airport.
Assist in gathering and formatting historical information to be used for the preparation of facility master record drawings.
Compile asset management data (location, condition, nameplate data) and verify against existing asset management database.
Exposure to airport mechanical control systems.
Who you are:
A Student – You must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or a recent graduate (< 1 year ago) in a mechanical engineering program or related field.

Technology – You have skill with Microsoft Office products, with a strong emphasis in Excel. We hope you have experience with AutoCad.
Desired – We hope you have an interest in facility infrastructure systems. Previous exposure to design and/or construction process.
What else you need to know:
Driver’s License – You will need a valid Washington State Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one, in order to travel locally to project sites.
Work Schedule – This is a full-time summer internship position with the possibility of extending to part-time hours during the school year. Normal work hours will be scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role.
Work Environment – You will primarily work in an office environment. You will also visit mechanical/electrical spaces, utility tunnels, active construction sites, and outdoors in inclement weather while working frequently near operating equipment such as boilers, chillers, fans, pumps, baggage handling equipment, tugs, and aircraft.
Limited Duration – This is a limited duration position and is expected to last no longer than one year.
Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington State within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
