The CNOS System Analyst will gather and analyze requirements for the Constellation Network Operating System, and will ensure their cohesion with the requirements of other Lightspeed systems. CNOS is a temporo-spatial Software Defined Network controller (SDNc) that orchestrates the Lightspeed constellation across land, sea, air and space to satisfy service demands. The CNOS System Analyst will be responsible for documenting the requirements, communicating them to other teams, and ensuring compliance of the CNOS design.
Main Responsibilities
Gather and analyze business requirements for CNOS from various stakeholders, including managers, architects, users, and Lightspeed teams.
Define and document CNOS functional and non-functional requirements, specifications, processes, configurations, data models and interfaces.
Articulate requirements for the implementation of mathematical network control algorithms into robust, highly-available, fault-tolerant, production-grade, real-time software.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine and evolve Lightspeed system requirements, and to design, develop, and implement CNOS.
Work closely with vendors to evaluate and implement new CNOS solutions and stay up to date with industry trends.
Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Review and approve design and development solution documents, internal and external test strategies, plans and scripts.
Assist in the development and execution of test plans, ensuring the quality, reliability and accuracy of implemented solutions.
Monitor CNOS performance and conduct regular reviews of components, processes, and data to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
Perform data analysis and reporting to support decision making and troubleshooting.
Provide technical support and resolve issues related to CNOS systems.
Provide support and training to end-users to ensure successful adoption and optimal utilization of implemented systems.
Education & Experience Required
Bachelor's degree in network engineering, software engineering or equivalent practical experience.
At least 5 years of experience in the telecom industry, including 3 years as a System Analyst or similar roles.
Experience with Software Defined Network applications
Familiarity with real-time network controllers
Experienced in cloud native architecture principles.
Familiarity with virtualization, multi-tenant cloud infrastructures and distributed storage systems.
Highly motivated and able to independently drive projects to completion
Creative problem-solving skills and strong analytical skills
Strong written and oral English communication skills
Familiarity with satellite and wireless telecommunications considered an asset.
Decision Making & Supervision
This role requires making recommendations and decisions which will have influence on the network operations and control solution of the Telesat Lightspeed network.
This role requires contributions as an individual and a team member and does not have direct reports.
Working Conditions
Hybrid workplace model with three days a week in the office. This policy is subject to change.
Occasional international travel is anticipated
