　　Position Summary

　　The Clinical Veterinarian Coordinator program in the Institute Comparative Medicine focuses on phenomena basic to disease in all species, including humans, and provides a challenging intellectual opportunity to work with medical, biomedical, and veterinary specialists. The program is recognized by the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) and prepares the candidate for ACLAM board certification. Program completion satisfied eligibility requirements for specialty board certification and a career in biomedical research.

　　Responsibilities

　　Support Biomedical Research - the Clinical Veterinarian Coordinator will coordinate research support for animal research conducted throught Columbia University on rotational basis covering all areas of focus. This includes surgical research support, large & small animal oversight, training and regulatory compliance.

　　Clinial Care: Observe animals as prescribed by the veterinary clinical staff; record observations; provide basic treatments as instructed by the veterinary clinical staff; and assist with the maintenance of animal records.

　　Review and advise on research techniques. Provide veterinary consults for IACUC protocols. Write and review SOPs, protocols, and vendor reviews as assigned.Other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications

　　Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience plus two years of related experience. The completion of a DVM and eligibility for a New York State Veterinary License can be substitute d for education and experience.

　　Preferred candidate will be highly motivated, have experience in laboratory animal medicine, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

　　Veterinary medical experience in laboratory animal medicine is preferred.
