　　Work Location:  This role is fully remote though resource must be based in the CST or EST zones.  

　　Responsibilities: 

　　Perform, coordinate, and manage the creation and outsourcing of billing analysis in accordance with the Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) regulations and the Clinical Trial Policy for all clinical trials. The billing analysis must be compliant with the Medicare billing rules. 

　　Review research studies to determine whether trials will include research-required clinical billing in Epic 

　　Create a billing plan including clinical procedures and determining billing designations and applying research modifiers (Q1/Q0 or R0) including a written rationale for all services determined to meet the routine cost definition per the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) Clinical Trial Policy. 

　　Determine expected charges based on the study protocol and budget. Expected codes include professional and technical coding with expected costs that inform budget negotiation. 

　　Select appropriate patient care charges and connect these charges with calendar events. 

　　Process modifications to the study calendar, billing plan, and expected charges after protocol amendment submission to the Scientific Review Committee (SRC) or Institutional Review Board (IRB). 

　　Coordinate the implementation of the modification with the activations, charge review, and study teams to ensure that participants are associated, and visits are checked in on the appropriate version of the billing plan in both the clinical trials management system (OnCore) and the electronic medical record (Epic). 

　　Work with the Principal Investigator (PI) and research team to understand, approve, and implement the billing plan. 

　　Maintain a high level of professionalism and provides clear and consistent information about the billing compliance process. 

　　Work with other financial, budget, and compliance teams as needed to minimize research billing compliance risk and increase awareness of downstream impacts of billing plan decisions. 

　　Required Skills: 

　　Three (3) years of clinical research coverage analysis experience required.  

　　Oncology Experience preferred.  

　　Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Medical Coding, Auditing, Finance, Accounting, Nursing, or a related field preferred. 

　　Certification in Coverage Analysis preferred. 

　　Knowledge of principles and practices pertaining to developing and administering a clinical trial in compliance with sponsor, federal, state regulations. 

　　Demonstrated skill tracking clinical and corporate contracts using electronic administration software such as Grant.gov, CICERO, OnCore, Epic, etc. 

　　Skill in cost/financial accounting and clinical trial management software 

　　PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, sitting, walking, visual perception, talking and hearing. 

　　IMPORTANT NOTE: Vitalief partners with clients such as major medical centers and academic institutions that requires all on-site resources such as prospective Vitalief consultants to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated for Covid-19; inoculated annually for Influenza; and successfully pass a Mantoux Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) for Mycobacterium Tuberculosis.
