Checkconditions of trailers after contents have been unloaded to ensure thatthere has been no damage. Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical,safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order. Collectdelivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructionsand routes. Couple or uncouple trailers by changing trailer jackpositions, connecting or disconnecting air or electrical lines, ormanipulating fifth-wheel locks. Crank trailer landing gear up or down tosafely secure vehicles. Drive trucks with capacities greater than 3tons, including tractor-trailer combinations, to transport and deliverproducts, livestock, or other materials. Inspect loads to ensure thatcargo is secure. Maintain logs of working hours or of vehicle service orrepair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.Operate equipment, such as truck cab computers, CB radios, phones, orglobal positioning systems (GPS) equipment to exchange necessaryinformation with bases, supervisors, or other drivers. Operate idlereduction systems or auxiliary power systems to generate power fromalternative sources, such as fuel cells, to reduce idling time, to heator cool truck cabins, or to provide power for other equipment. Performbasic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiatorfluid or performing minor repairs. Plan or adjust routes based onchanging conditions, using computer equipment, global positioningsystems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices to minimize fuelconsumption and carbon emissions. Read and interpret maps to determinevehicle routes. Read bills of lading to determine assignment details.Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to thevehicles. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: CommercialClass A CDL License Valid medical card as prescribed by the FederalMotor Carrier Administration.
