Mondays - Fridays POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
Oversees the chart completion activities for Harborview Medical Center and the University of Washington Medical Center to assure timeliness dictated and directly entered clinical documentation in the Electronic Health Record to support patient care
Collects, analyzes, and tracks documentation, such as discharge records and operative procedures, for completion DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
Enterprise Records and Health Information (ERHI) is a Shared Service Department that supports all aspects of the patient medical record from governance, integrity, documentation timeliness, completion, clinical coding, billing, release, and tracking to management of access, retention, and destruction.
ERHI provides advice and resources related to the lifecycle management of all UW Medicine records
ERHI is an integral part of the Enterprise Revenue Cycle and has a unique role in the organization that supports both clinical and operational activities. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises and assures daily operations of overall chart completion staff and workflows meet departmental goals.
Evaluates employee performance and provides feedback through coaching
Coordinates and monitors workload volumes to achieve turnaround goals
Prepares reports to support departmental operations related to chart completion activities, volume of work, quality of work, staff performance and employee satisfaction
Participates in the development, monitoring, and communication of:
Facilitate and coordinate interviews, check references, and select staff with support from Manager
Facilitates, recommends, and schedules training opportunities for staff; identifies performance deficiencies, and recommends corrective action when applicable.
Acts as first level of escalation point related to issues for providers, patients or UW Medicine employees.
Participates in and leads special projects and other duties as needed.
Participates in discussions and decision-making with appropriate vendors regarding required system functionality. REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) AND two years of applicable experience in health information management; Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration ABOUT UW MEDICINE - A HIGHER DEGREE OF HEALTHCARE UW Medicine is Washington’s only health system that includes a top-rated medical school and an internationally recognized research center.
