Responsibilities:
The Enterprise Data Delivery Chapter Lead is a people and technology manager who handles all the usual manager tasks such as developing staff, hiring and setting career paths. The Chapter Lead will acquire knowledge of the analytics data domain and should have a strong interest in cloud technologies, especially those related to data and analytics. They guide the team responsible for the analytical data delivery projects and ensure the success of projects and technology solutions. They guide technology direction across product teams, develop and improve the skills and abilities within the chapter, build competencies and manage and support data engineers using a hybrid Agile framework. The Chapter Lead oversees optimizing team composition, reviewing priorities, and adjusting resources and or backlog, measuring talent evolution, and handling all other administrative tasks within the Chapter. The Chapter Lead acts as practice leader who works with product owners as technical SME. Moreover, as a manager, they need to lead and motivate the team while following the company's policies and rules.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Talent Acquisition : Evaluate temporary and/or permanent candidates for openings on product teams to increase team capacity and/or skills. Keep and improve the interview process and related material to match current and future product and technology needs. Create and track staffing strategy, including budget and options for employee and contingent labor.
Talent Management and Development : Anticipate future skill and capacity needs by checking product backlogs and product and technology roadmaps. Establish and manage technical training that aligns with these needs. Review the level of technical capabilities and team health within the organization to identify gaps and plan for future development. Guide and grow staff. Ensure consistency and quality of performance evaluations, compensation, and promotions across chapters.
Establish and Maintain Guidelines for Designing, Developing, and Executing : Work with solution architects, enterprise architects, Staff departments, Data Product Leads, and other stakeholders to keep improving and defining their data delivery needs, patterns and standards. Ensure the development process is well-organized, roles are clear, and handoffs are efficient. Check existing processes to make sure they function correctly.
Confirm ETL processes to make sure that all ETLs are running as expected and successfully.
Work closely with customers to comprehend the requirements, discuss and identify various use cases. Take the lead and join in requirements gathering workshops, estimation discussions, design meetings and status review meetings. Provide and participate in Solution Design and Solution Architecture for data delivery projects.
Strategic Product Planning : Set long term goal for data delivery. Handle various technical and data architecture storage and delivery solutions; find out best practices and make reusable delivery solution methods that satisfy expectations. Collaborate with team members, customer teams, enterprise architects, and other stakeholders to keep up quarterly plans for meeting product needs, handling technical debt, and applying changing technology.
Cross Team Problem Solving : Work with Chapter Leads and Product Owners to adjust team composition and backlog assignment across chapters to ensure skills and capacity match priorities as set by the product organization. Support Product Owners on the team in resolving priority and resource conflicts.
Communication and feedback : Monitor and review the progress of the project and ensure that the outcomes are on track with respect to scope, budget and time. Clearly communicate the status of the project to all the stakeholders on a regular basis. Identify and manage risks / issues related to outcomes and come up with mitigation plans to resolve the issues and risks. Seek feedback proactively to identify areas of improvement. Ensure the team is creating and maintaining the knowledge artifacts related to the project outcomes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree Computer Science, MIS, Software Engineering or equivalent.
7 years’ experience in data product development, data architecture, and managing technology vendor relationships.
Inspirational leader and people skills. Must be able to influence others.
Solid knowledge and ability to apply relational and dimensional data modeling concepts and best practices to database and data delivery design.
Demonstrated experience in design, development and managing on-prem and cloud data technologies; ability to act as both a manager and a teacher.
Demonstrate systems thinking skills and can help the team integrate seamlessly with the larger organization.
Experience with defining the process for interviewing, hiring and staff talent assessment.
Experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing highly motivated data engineers.
Strong communication skills to provide guidance and education on new technical or soft skill concepts and practices to data engineers.
Ability to provide clear and direct communication regarding performance and skill development.
Proven skills in coaching in the areas of performance, standards, and work methods, including the development of data engineers or other technical leaders.
Proven ability to resolve conflicts across teams and disciplines (mediation skills)
Ability to organize events (meetings, hackathons) in the subject area.
Ability to create an atmosphere of trust and a comfortable and efficient work environment.
Proven experience in project planning, estimation, execution, and implementation of medium to large projects.
Excellent presentation skills with senior leadership level stakeholders.

The hiring range for this position dependent on final grade and title is $130,700 to $187,800 USD. The final salary offer will vary based on geographic location, individual education, skills, and experience. The position is eligible to participate in FM Global’s comprehensive Total Rewards program that includes an incentive plan, generous health and well-being programs, a 401(k) and pension plan, career development opportunities, tuition reimbursement, flexible work, time off allowances and much more.
