They provide important services to the people with whom theywork. Chaplains organize and lead religious services, usually in alocation other than a church. They provide spiritual guidance andassistance to people who may be detained, incarcerated, hospitalized ordeployed. Chaplains are representatives of religion and spirituality.They may work with people who consider themselves to be morephilosophical, adjusting their services to meet the beliefs of theperson. A chaplain may be of any faith and usually offersnondenominational services to accommodate all patients or residents.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide religious or spiritual guidance to inmates, patients, prisoners,military members, students and employees,
Offer reflective, non-judgmental listening to people going through adifficult time,
Conduct religious ceremonies, like weddings or funerals in a remotelocation,
Educate people on religion and spirituality,
Provide people with religious or spiritual resources,
Empower people to overcome challenges and struggles,
Provide emotional and physical support to families,
Lead people in prayer,
Educate people on services available with a chaplain,
Develop and foster connections with patients or team members,
Intervene and respond to crises,
Use theological theories and practices to help patients emotionallycope,
Participate in community events such as memorial services and prayers.
