Position Overview

The Category Manager - Truckload will lead the truckload transportation category working cross functionally within Navistar interfacing with logistics, finance, and suppliers. As Category Manager - Truckload you will be responsible for developing and implementing truckload transportation sourcing strategies, driving cost reductions, supply base management and negotiating and executing agreements.

The Category Manager’s key activities include, developing sourcing strategies (including collaborations with other VW brands), executing bids, supplier contract negotiations, identifying cost reduction opportunities and overall supplier performance management for cost, quality, and delivery.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute sourcing strategies for truckload transportation, to align with Navistar’s business objectives.

Lead strategic sourcing decisions for new scope as well as current business for improved cost, quality, or delivery opportunities.

Execute VW NAR Logistics Business Plan, driving collaboration opportunities with sister brands.

Research industry trends, benchmark data, and understand underlying cost drivers.

Analyze category spend to identify and develop savings opportunities, and work with the logistics team to develop cost budgets.

Build strong strategic partnerships with suppliers to ensure that cost competitiveness, on time delivery, and service meet or exceed expectations.

Drive compliance to Navistar Sourcing Policy and VW approval process

Focus on continuous improvement of current processes and systems

Responsibility for YOY savings and other key metrics within truckload transportation.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree

At least 8 years of supply chain, engineering or manufacturing experience

1 year lead experience

OR

Master's degree

At least 6 years of supply chain, engineering or manufacturing experience

1 year lead experience

OR

At least 10 years of supply chain, engineering or manufacturing experience

1 year lead experience

Procurement background with experience in transportation and logistics industries preferred

Strategic mindset with ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems

Experience with sourcing services, discovering competitive options and leading negotiations

Ability to read, understand, and execute commercial agreements and contracts

Ability to understand technical concepts

Skilled at developing executive level presentations

Strong analytical skills
