　　Job Summary

　　Denver Health is recruiting for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant tojoin our cardiology team. Under general supervision of a physician, performsprofessional medical work in the examination, diagnosis and treatment ofCardiology patients according to statutory limitations, depending on theirdegree (PA, NP). Works with clinical staff, fellows, and attendingphysicians to provide Cardiology care in multiple domains (Inpatient,outpatient, procedural). Examines and diagnoses patients and developstreatment plans. Performs testing, referral to physicians as needed,writes prescriptions, and performs administrative procedures within thescope of expertise, protocols and available equipment. May performadministrative support functions as required.

　　Essential Functions:

　　Monitors and evaluates medical condition of patient and under the supervisionof a physician and in collaboration with other disciplines and standards ofcare or applying appropriate protocols, make decisions regarding treatmentchanges. Refers patient to specialized services as needed. (35%)Determines and assesses the health status of patients by reviewing records,taking comprehensive medical histories, and performing physicalexaminations. (20%)Orders and administers appropriate medications within the limits of theappropriate statutory limitations or refers patient to a caregiver in aspecialty area. Initiates, performs or directs other healthcareprofessionals to perform screenings and diagnostic tests. (10%)Device interrogation for ICDs and pacemakers. (10%)Provides for pre and post op/procedural care. (10%)Completes required documentation legibly, thoroughly and in a timely manner.Prepares and maintains complete and accurate charts, case files and records.(10%)Participates in clinical education of healthcare students as seen fit by thesupervising medical staff. (5%)

　　Education:Master's Degree Required

　　Work Experience:1-3 years directly related experience preferred

　　Licenses:BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association RequiredColorado medical license required

　　Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

　　Knowledge of medical principals and procedures.Knowledge of community resources for appropriate procedures.Skill in eliciting history from patients, performing physical exams andformulating assessments of and treatment plans for patients.Ordering appropriate diagnostic studies to aid in diagnosis.Knowledge of appropriate administration and prescription of medications.Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in selecting proper treatment.Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations.Ability to prepare accurate reports.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships withemployees, other departments and the public.A strong foundation in evidenced based practice and education and has aresponsibility for ensuring adherence to critical care pathways and protocolsand ensures an environment of safe quality care.Computer skills required.
