Description

　　The EKG Monitor Tech is responsible for continuously monitoring EKG, non invasive BP machines, continuous pulse oximetry, and /or respiratory rate ate the Central Monitor Station.

　　Continuously monitor patient's rhythm, BP,HR and pulse oximetry in a central station.

　　Obtain EKG strip from Central Monitor and measures patient's HR, PR, QRS and QT intervals.

　　Recognize changes in patient's baseline ekg, new arrhythmias, rate changes and obtain ekg strips and notify the RN immediately.

　　Communicate with the RN and/or physician regarding EKG status, V/S and pulse oximeter readings.

　　Use Central Monitor to admit and discharge patients.

　　Admit and discharge patients to/from telemetry box/ monitor

　　Retrieve past events from Central Monitor

　　Obtain documents from computer for RN as requested.

　　Notify appropriate department of malfunctioning equipment.

　　Respond to audio and visual alarms.

　　Maintain monitor alarms as determined by policy.

　　Obtain EKG rhythms as requested by the RN.

　　Notify the RN of interference or lead fails

　　Maintain the equipment Log with the number of functional monitors, telemetry boxes and placement of in-use monitors

　　Monitor patients in Lead 11 and V1.

　　Salary: $24.56 - $32.38 HourlyQualifications

　　Successful completion of an approved basic arrhythmia program( minimum of 14 hours) Required/training provided

　　Ability to establish and maintain a courteous and co-operative working relationship with patients, families and co-workers. Required

　　Ability to speak clearly and distinctly using English vocabulary and grammar. Required.

　　Ability to understand oral and written English. Required.

　　Ability to read and write Standard English text. Required.

　　Ability to perform basic arithmetic computations (adds, subtract, multiply and divide). Required.

　　Demonstrates an understanding of basic terminology and abbreviations. Required.

　　Ability to accurately complete assigned tasks. Required.

　　Ability to organize and prioritize work to complete assignments in a timely manner. Required

　　Ability to sustain quality of work commensurate with established departmental QA guidelines and governmental regulations. Training Provided

　　Satisfactory completion of Heart Saver (CPR) course. Preferred.

　　Ability to provide age appropriate observation and intervention to meet the needs of patients served . Required
