Summary

The Car Cleaner/Welder 2 Repair is responsible for all aspects of the car cleaning and the inspection, care and maintenance of equipment used in the cleaning process as well as all aspects of railcar repair and Maintenance.

Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.

Coordinates and completes cleaning and repairs in an efficient manner and within assigned hours

Notifies supervisor of any materials and/or equipment required to ensure completion of job tasks

Follows all safety rules, keeps work area clean and complies with all Greenbrier Environmental Health and Safety Policies

Inspects and cleans railcar interiors for compliance with customer, FRA, AAR and Greenbrier requirements and completes cleaning checklists as required

Ensures FRA, AAR, Greenbrier and customer quality assurance standards are met

Qualifications

The following generally describes requirements to successfully perform the assigned duties.

Minimum Qualifications

1+ years’ experience working in a manufacturing facility

AWS qualified as Welder 2

Experience in removing defects and weld repair

Ability to work both alone and in a team environment

Ability to read blueprints and schematics

Preferred Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency test/GEDWork Environment and Physical Requirements

This position is in a production environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, moving railcars and machinery, and trip hazards where head, hearing, eye, and foot protection including composite toed safety shoes, are required.

This position will be exposed to hazardous chemicals which requires the use of a blast suit, gloves, and wearing a respirator. For Safety purposes, employees must be clean-shaven when wearing a respirator.

Additional personal protective equipment may be required as determined by the environment.

This position may be required to work at heights of 20 ft or within confined spaces.
