Under the direction of the Camp Director and in the accordance with the association and policies of the Northern Lights YMCA and the State of Michigan, the Camp Lifeguard/Safety Officer will be responsible for the health, welfare and happiness of campers in his/her care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Pre-camp training orientation.Ability to deal with people in a confidential manner.Knowledge of general health procedures for children.Ability to carry out first aid and emergency care.Screen campers on arrival & departure and inform counselors if needed.Follow standing orders & consult with physician as needed.Daily observation of campers at meal time and in activities.Keep inventory and request first aid supplies as needed from Camp Director.Control ALL medications for both staff & campers.Provide first aid kits for field trips & have counselors report any treatment to you for inclusion into the log.Follow up on injuries or other medical problems and refer to parents if needed.Arrange emergency transportation along with camp director if needed.Keep camp director informed on camper illness or injury.Check the camp environment for health, safety, and cleanliness.Leave a communication with your whereabouts at camp.Report to Camp Director any problems that may affect camp.Attends all staff meetings and in-service training.YMCA COMPETENCIES (Leader):

QUALIFICATIONS:
Camp Lifeguard/Safety Office must be 18 years of age or older.
Hold a Certification For (at least one):
