Ensuring Chart’s Success…
The buyer position is responsible for all aspects of material management from sourcing/supplier selection to delivery of products to Chart customers. The buyer position will be the direct purchasing interface with suppliers for all procurement related duties and ensures the effective execution of purchasing transactions for total cost, quality, and delivery requirements, including Supply Chain Management.
What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…
Place and maintain required purchase orders for suppliers or product groups as assigned by the purchasing supervisor.
Maintain contact with vendors to ensure expected delivery and releases against contracts and blanket purchase orders.
Communicate delivery information to Production Planners and manufacturing.
Develop and maintain reliable reports to identify late purchase order items.
Audit primary vendor, vendor lead-time, safety stock and other part/vendor data for accuracy. Make needed changes or work with the purchasing supervisor to make the necessary changes.
Review materials shortages and past due orders by end item or by product group as assigned.
Provide input on department performance measures.
Understand the mechanics of Purchase Price Variance reporting and work with the supplier or appropriate internal depart to reconcile inconsistencies.
Negotiate and recommend appropriate settlement for inferior or defective shipment or other errors or delays.
Negotiate basic supply agreements for the site
Visit supplier sites to work through issues as necessary.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Your Professional Experience Should Be…
Prior experience in materials purchasing environment requiredYour Education Should Be…
Four-year degree in business or related field or equivalent preferred
Prior buyer experience in similar industry will be considered in lieu of degree

Lift up to 15 pounds
Sitting, standing, stooping, bending, other related tasks in an office setting
