Let's Redefine Possible SUMMARY Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Business Development Manager in our Energy Storage & Solutions Group. You will lead the creation of new project work by partnering with business unit market leaders and developing, and executing positioning strategies with existing and potential customers. All your work should be performed with initiative, productivity, and a positive attitude. Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills are vital as you will be interacting with staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment. You should also display the ability to remain flexible, inventive, dedicated, and efficient with a significant amount of integrity and confidentiality. RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the positioning activities of the business development team Participate in strategic business planning; developing strategic positioning plans for company and project pursuits to win work, including direct coordination/positioning with other Mortenson energy sectors Lead the filtering of new customers and projects Develop and produce internal and external communications, marketing/branding/advertising materials, and presentations Coordinate prequalification efforts with targeted customers and partners Initiate customer feedback on proposals and presentations Function as the liaison amongst group leadership, business development, pre-construction, and marketing Provide insight into market sectors; perform market trends analysis Establish and cultivate strategic business partnerships and customer relationships Directly interact with your customers, leverage insights, and communicate value propositions Develop and maintain deep and trusting relationships with current and potential partners including, but not limited to targeted customers, design professionals, partner companies, community leaders, utilities, equipment manufacturers, and engineering firms Identify new market sector opportunities and potential future customers Familiarize yourself with the customer's project designs, estimates, schedules, and key terms to facilitate discussion with the customer Complete Request for Proposals with 100% accuracy and compliance with the owner's specifications QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field Own and bring clarity to ambiguous information and situations, be a curious learner, develop expertise, and be an ambassador for the existing market we serve Proven customer relationship-building skills, with developed local/regional/national business knowledge and relationships Knowledge of construction law and generally accepted business practices Proficient in energy-related engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) delivery methods In-person visits with customers, partners, and at project sites Review RFP requirements independently and communicate requirements, risks, and strategy to successfully win and execute the work Detail orientation sufficient for data entry, reporting, financial projections for sales and selections, and market analysis Microsoft Office and CRM web application skills at an advanced level Proven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies Minimum five years prior grid-scale energy experience Current driver's license Travel of up to 30% of the time may be necessary to fulfill the objectives of the position.
