Job Description Business Data & Strategy Specialist 4730 N Service Dr, Winona, MN 55987 HEADP Full-time Shift(s): MON TUE WED THU FRI 7:00am - 5:00pm OVERVIEW: Working as Full-time Business Data & Strategy Specialist, you will be responsible for utilizing business intelligence best practices to lead projects that support operational and business objectives. This would include aiding in the development and adoption of BI tools to business users across the organization. This position will report directly to the Business Data & Strategy Lead or Business Data & Strategy Manager. RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: o Working with the Business Data & Strategy team, IT, and business users to ensure Business Intelligence tools meet the needs of the business o Collaborating with end users to identify needs and opportunities for improved data management and delivery o Utilizing BI best practices, relational structures, dimensional data modeling, structures query language skills, and data warehouse techniques o Developing, implementing, and maintaining BI tools and platforms o Meeting deadlines while working on multiple projects o Creating technical documentation and data maps o Ensuring data security and integrity o Collaborating with Data Governance roles around data element and metric definitions and use REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: The following skills and qualifications are required for this position: o Possess or are working towards a degree in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related Business field OR have 2 years of relevant work experience o Possess 2 or more years of experience using common BI tools including Microsoft Power BI, SQL Server Reporting Services, Tableau, Oracle analytics, Qlik, SAS, etc. o Possess 2 or more years of experience within a business analyst, business intelligence, BI development, or data analytics related role o Learn and perform multiple tasks in a fast paced environment o Demonstrate strong math aptitude, attention to detail and sense of urgency o Demonstrate strong organization, planning and prioritizing abilities o Excellent written and oral communication skills o Exhibit strong problem solving, deductive reasoning and decision making skills o Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite o Willingness to work a flexible schedule o Willingness to travel o Demonstrate our core values of ambition, innovation, integrity and teamwork o Pass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico and Guam ONLY) PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: o Previous experience with programming languages such as VBA, SQL, R, Python and/or Java o Knowledge of software development life cycle practices and principles ABOUT US: Since 1967 Fastenal has grown as a distributor of industrial and construction supplies from a single branch to a Fortune 500 company with approximately 3,200 servicing locations, each providing tailored local inventory and personal service for our customers.
