Project Title: Integration and Optimization of Robotics in High-Throughput Pharmaceutical Lab Environments
Location: This position is fully on-site (4+ days in office) at Lexington, MA facility.
Project Overview: We are excited to announce an exceptional summer internship opportunity at our Lexington, MA location, focused on the advanced integration of robotics into high-throughput pharmaceutical laboratory environments. Building upon our initial proof-of-concept work with the Omron mobile base/arm Manipulator (MoMa), this project is entering a critical phase of advancement. We are not only continuing the integration of MoMa but also expanding our scope to include the early adoption and testing of the SPOT robot from Boston Dynamics. These tasks will require a thoughtful approach to aligning robotic capabilities with the operational needs of our laboratory environment. Through this process, the intern will gain hands-on experience with both established and emerging robotic technologies, while also learning how to effectively manage and optimize these systems within a complex, industry-leading setting.
Key Responsibilities:
MoMa Robotics Integration: Assist in the seamless integration of the MoMa robot with our High-Throughput Platforms, ensuring alignment with Green Button Go (GBG) scheduling software and existing lab workflows.
Performance Evaluation: Conduct thorough evaluations of both the GBG drivers and the custom-developed SiLA server, essential for piloting the MoMa robot within the GBG environment. This task entails assessing and debugging the control architecture to ensure efficiency and compatibility.
Testing and Monitoring: Engage in a comprehensive series of tests, monitoring and documenting both successes and challenges encountered. This responsibility includes hands-on work with the robots, troubleshooting issues, and making iterative refinements based on test results.
SPOT Robot Adoption: Focus specifically on the adoption and operational testing of the SPOT robot from Boston Dynamics in a pharmaceutical lab context. Evaluate its utility, efficiency, and potential applications, contributing insights into its integration within our lab environment.
How you will contribute:
Exceptional interpersonal, verbal communication and writing skills.
Deadline-driven with an elevated level of organizational and planning skills.
Strong quantitative, analytical, problem solving and conceptual skills.
Proven record of accomplishment of teamwork, adaptability, innovation, initiative, and integrity.
Global mindset to grow in a diverse work environment.
Advanced Robotics Knowledge: Understanding of robotic systems, including programming and operation, ideally with experience in mobile and arm manipulators.
Programming Skills: Proficiency in languages commonly used in robotics, such as Python and C++.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to monitoring, documenting, and refining processes.
Educational Background: Pursuing or completed a degree in engineering, computer science, robotics, or a related field, providing a strong foundation in relevant areas.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Currently authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. Takeda does not provide sponsorship for internship positions.
