  General Description

  Niagara County Community College has a vacancy for a full-time, 10 month, tenure-track Biology/Anatomy and Physiology instructor position. This position is contained in the Division of Business and STEM . The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching in lecture and laboratory settings, and advising students throughout the academic year in the Business and STEM Division. Courses responsible for teaching may include Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Human Biology, Bioinformatics, and/or Biotechnology. All courses are taught in-person. Assignments are typically during the day, but may also be during evening or weekend hours.

  These classes are held at NCCC’s main campus located in Sanborn, NY

  The start date of this position will be late August for the beginning of the Fall 2024 semester. The successful candidate will only be required to work 162 days per academic year (August – May), and will be provided with a winter break from mid-December to early January, a Spring Break for one week in mid-March, and will work until the Spring semester ends in Mid-May (not required to work in June, July, and most of August).

  The base salary for this position is $ 47,785. However, there is the potential for overload and other assignments, which would increase the base salary. For example: teaching two extra lab sections per semester would add another $3,750 per semester. There is also a pathway for promotion to higher level salary positions (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor).

  Essential Functions

  Ability to navigate relationships with diverse populations and teach a diverse student population. Ability to advise students for classes, transfer options and career advice in their field. Ability to be an active member in the division and serve on committees representing the division. Ability to speak in front of groups of people. Must be able to effectively communicate with students, colleagues, supervisors and the campus community. Must be able to develop, prepare and present all required course material. Must be able to operate computers. Must be able to physically perform the duties of the position.

  Required Qualifications

  Master’s Degree in Biology or a related field, or Master’s Degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Biology or related field

  1 year of full-time (or equivalent) teaching experience at the post-secondary level

  Must have experience teaching in a technology-enhanced classroom, and experience using a course management system such as Brightspace or Blackboard.

  Desirable Qualifications

  Ph.D. in Biology or related field

  Instructional experience at a community/technical college or four-year university with emphasis in Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Human Biology, Bioinformatics, and/or Biotechnology within the last five years.

NCCC serves the community in two locations within Niagara County, at the Sanborn campus, and at the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute, located in the heart of downtown Niagara Falls.

  NCCC continues to actively expand with the recent opening of its Learning Commons Center, a $25 million dollar project on the Sanborn campus. In just a short period of time, it has become the nucleus of the campus; a place for faculty to collaborate and help students develop critical thinking skills while incorporating state-of-the-art technology and innovative student support services.
