Ford and SK On are investing billions in Kentucky and Tennessee including building three state-of-the-art battery manufacturing facilities between the two campuses at BlueOval City in Tennessee and BlueOval SK Battery Park in Kentucky. These brand-new advanced manufacturing facilities will use Ford’s 120+ years of automobile manufacturing expertise and SK On’s 30+ years of electric vehicle battery expertise to become the world’s best battery manufacturer.
Key Areas of Responsibility
The Benefits Manager at BlueOval SK will have a unique opportunity to be a key member of the start-up team, launching the facility from the ground up. The Benefits Manager will contribute to the overall development and administration of benefits in the following ways:
Develop, implement, administer and maintain BlueOval SK’s benefits programs, policies and procedures; recommend new policies and/or policy changes; develop benefits communications as needed and counsel employees on benefits related issues.
Support a culture of employee outreach and service, with development of proactive communication and education programs to promote the various features of BlueOval SK’s benefit programs; coach/mentor other HR staff toward fostering full understanding of benefits.
Liaison with various benefit providers to ensure that benefit offerings comply with state, federal and company contract provisions; maintain and review benefit program plan documents and ensure programs comply with legal requirements.
Research external benchmarking to implement new benefit programs and evaluate effectiveness of existing plans and their ability to best meet the needs of BlueOval SK employees; negotiate with benefit carriers/vendors to obtain cost-effective rates and quality service.
Plan and control benefit expenses through the development of benefits budgets; provide billing reconciliation, renewals and cost analysis; foster successful operational and strategic vendor relationships and monitor the disbursement of funds to benefit carriers/vendors.
Conduct and participate in benefits surveys in the local, industry and national labor markets; compile and evaluate survey results.
Develop and provide analysis of human resources data through the development of information systems and reports to BlueOval SK management.
Manage compliance related testing, reporting or regulatory filing and deliverables, including preparation of internal and external analysis and submissions; act as the main contact for internal/external audits and risk assessments.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and optimization of the Workday HRMS, including recommendations for process improvements to meet business needs; interact with external and internal technology experts to monitor system effectiveness and implement upgrades as required.
Manage the employee benefits function through the development of operating and strategic plans; manage staff recruitment, training, development, appraisal, salary and rewards/promotions, and prioritization/workload balancing.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Administration, or other related field
7-10 years+ Human Resources experience, including significant experience successfully designing. implementing and administrating benefits programs
3-5 years+ supervisory experience
Advanced knowledge of ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA and emerging regulatory benefits issues
Proven ability to plan, organize, prioritize and effectively manage multiple complex projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment
Strong people management and leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and develop employees; and ability to work successfully as part of a team
Experience managing budgets and negotiating vendor contracts.
Outstanding verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and computer skills
Strong analytical, problem solving, and organization skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in business, human resources, or related field.
Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) or Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professions (SHRM-CP) or Certified Profession, Life and Health Insurance Program (CPLHI)
Proficient in in Workday HRMS.
