Description
Position Summary: The position of Bench Mechanic is a key member of the manufacturing team in a high mix, lower volume environment, reporting to the Operations manager. As a part of the repair and overhaul process this position performs all required pressure testing and cleaning of all aircraft engine components as defined in the engineering process routing.
Key Position Responsibilities:
Position is up tempo and very detail oriented
Cold work metallic tubes, ducts & manifolds to conform to check fixtures
Disassemble and fabricate replacement details
Prepare parts for welding of x-ray and aerospace quality joints
Interpret routings, op sheets and draw on personal knowledge to determine most efficient approach to repair a given part
Effectively collaborate with engineering while developing new parts, processes and techniques
Become proficient in a number of ancillary processes: Flow testing, torch brazing, induction brazing, insulation, manual mill, etc.
Learn or possess ability to effectively use manual lathes and mills
Give constructive feedback to engineering on process issues and potential improvements
Serve as a backup to the product clean line and pressure test area
Bead blast product as required
In process visual inspection to a check fixture
Polishing and blending of product
Create inspection fixtures under the guidance of a Level 3.

Required qualification / Education / and/or Experience:
Demonstrated expertise in Aerospace repair and metalworking
Strong work ethic and leadership ability
High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
Attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of this position
Must be able to show proof of legally ability to work in United States
Must be able to read, write and speak English
Must be able to pass FAA drug screen and background check
Preferred Qualifications:
Aerospace / Defense industry experience a plus
FAA A&P certificate is a strong plus
