  Job Description:

  As a member of the Global Sustainability team, our new AVP, Head of Global Community Investment will lead a high performing team responsible for developing and implementing strategies that support Manulife’s Impact Agenda and drive positive change in the world. You will have the opportunity to shape a strategic portfolio of impact partnerships and oversee giving and volunteer initiatives that rally colleagues to support their communities. By working closely with internal stakeholders, you will leverage our investments to create activations and communications to help advance our business and brand strategies, while reporting on the impact of our investments aligned to global best practices.

  Responsibilities:

  Oversee the company’s $20+ million annual community investment programs, managing a portfolio of strategically aligned partnerships, designed to accelerate positive social and environmental change in the communities where we operate. ​

  Champion a globally unified employee engagement program inspiring colleagues to support community ​and helping to attract and retain talent through strategic giving and volunteering initiatives.

  Elevate our impact measurement/reporting better demonstrate our societal impact and the business value of our initiatives.

  ​Manage a high-performing team to ensure goals are met while facilitating a culture of engagement and continuous improvement.

  Work collaboratively with cross-functional segment leaders to inform decision-making and to integrate activations into strategies and deliverables that can enhance brand reputation and customer loyalty through activities that educate, engage, and/or reward our stakeholders.

  Represent Manulife as a thought leader, including with media, and closely collaborate with colleagues to create and deliver effective messaging to promote Manulife’s brand, enhance its reputation, and inspire employees.

  Proactively foster meaningful relationships with leaders and partners in the community.

  Develop executive level presentations and reports to communicate progress, achievements and challenges, and ability to meet business objectives.

  Ensure compliance objectives are met through centralized reviews and consistent processes to confirm investments are aligned to Impact Agenda and company values.

  Proactively identify areas of risk and implement strategies to mitigate them, while staying up to date on relevant social issues, competitive research, industry trends and regulations.

  What we are looking for:

  Minimum 10 years of social impact/community investment experience developing creative and innovative strategies to accelerate positive societal change – preferably in the financial services, wealth management, or insurance industry.

  Outstanding communicator, with strategic storytelling skills, with proven ability to engage and influence at all levels of the organization with clear, succinct communication.

  Strategic and creative thinker with the ability to connect long-term vision to short-term objectives and initiatives - balancing short term high value wins while continuing to execute on longer term strategic initiatives.

  Extensive experience in leading and managing high-performing teams.

  Outstanding relationship building skills, successfully fostering a robust network, including demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people across cultures, ranges of ability, genders, ethnicities, and races.

  Proven track record of working in a fast-paced fluid environment managing multiple tasks and projects concurrently, while maintaining high standards and attention to detail.

  Solid understanding and appreciation of the Manulife/John Hancock Brand and willingness to be an ambassador both internally and externally.

  Well-developed project management skills, and ability to identify and drive opportunities for continuous improvement in an efficient and effective way

  Sound judgment, excellent comprehension, and decision-making skills, leveraging data and metric-driven models.

  A natural curiosity and a passion to understand and learn unfamiliar areas.

  Salary & Benefits

  The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

  Primary Location

  Toronto, Ontario

  Salary range is expected to be between

  $123,400.00 CAD - $229,300.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
