Job Description Summary
The Attending Physician will provide high quality patient care to ouroutpatients in the Pain Management Center as well as provide inpatientcare on an assigned weekend on-call service.

Job Description
The Attending Physician:VISION:Supports the Institutional and ProgramVision. Is able to articulate and communicate the visionbroadly.QUALITY:Assumes responsibility for patients\' clinical quality,safety, outcomes, and satisfaction. Maintains compliance with regulatoryand accreditation requirements. Fosters an environment of continuousimprovement through use of Continuous Quality Improvement and Leanprinciples. Actively participates in assigned Institute and MedicalCommittee work.Evaluation of patient\'s current pain levels (0-10)andhistory of recent pain experience;provides appropriate pain educationand intervention in consultation with physician and pain specialists asneeded; provides ongoing assessment of pain and implementation of toolsformanagement.MARKETING:Participates in marketing efforts and developingand maintaining referral sources. SCIENCE, ACADEMICS, ANDRESEARCH:Advocates a scientific approach to patient care delivery.Advances the academic mission of SRAlab by providing an excitingteaching environment, maintaining strong relationships with academicinstitutions and professional organizations. Pursues intra andextramural funding to support research as appropriate and pursuesscholarly activity through scientific presentations andpublications.Participates in research and in medical educationactivities, including teaching medical students and residents, grandrounds, continuing education programs and in-service trainingprograms.Assists in Fellowships training as appropriate. Cultivates acollaborative and professional work environment, which stimulatesinquiry, the scientific method and continuous improvement. PRACTICINGPHYSICIAN:Collaborates with leaders and staff in other InstitutePrograms to facilitate achievement of overall Institute goals.Serves asa practicing physician and provides medical leadership to theinterdisciplinary team. In the role of a practicing Physician, ensuresthe appropriateness and effectiveness of the treatment plan. Overseesand coordinates the involvement of physicians, nursing and allied healthstaff to resolve complex medical problems.Actively participates inassigned medical staff committees including providing leadership byfunctioning as chairperson as appropriate.Perform all other duties thatmay be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley RyanAbilityLab Reporting RelationshipsReports directly to the ProgramMedical Director or the Chief Medical Officer as appropriateKnowledge,Skills & Abilities RequiredLicensed to practice medicine in the State ofIllinois.Successful completion of a residency program in physicalmedicine and rehabilitation and is Board certified or BoardEligible.Faculty appointment at Northwestern University MedicalSchool.Excellent communications and interdisciplinary skills required,including proven ability to communicate effectively with patients,families, referring parties, SRAlab and other internal and externalstakeholders.Working ConditionsNormal office environment with little orno exposure to dust or extreme temperature.The above statements areintended to describe the general nature and level of work beingperformed by people assigned to this classification.
