　　The Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) of the University of Southern California (USC) and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) in the Department of Surgery in the Division of Pediatric Surgery, are actively seeking a full time faculty member for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Research Surgery.

　　A fully-funded Research assistant professor position in the Grikscheit lab is available immediately to study the role of adult and induced pluripotent stem cells in novel models of tissue-engineering. The Grikscheit lab studies the molecular mechanisms that control regeneration of the gastrointestinal tract and liver development at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California.

　　This position is open to applicants who wish to focus on basic science that will underpin the translation of stem cell therapies for children with enteric neuropathies, intestinal failure, or metabolic disorders. The Grikscheit laboratory has investigated the regenerative capacity of adult stem cells in many regions of the gastrointestinal tract and is now extending models of gastrointestinal and liver regeneration to iPS-generated donor cells for regeneration of the intestine and the enteric nervous system.

　　A strong background in biochemical and molecular techniques is essential. Human pluripotent stem cell culture experience is highly desirable. Ideal candidates will be interested in mechanisms of cell signaling, intestinal stem cell functions, and the tools to evaluate in vivo models of cellular growth.
