Position Summary
For thirty years, Nestlé Purina has been proud to call St. Joseph, MO home to two facilities, a wet pet food factory and our Product Technology Center (PTC) dedicated to research and development. The PTC is home to dogs and cats who help us learn, research and better understand the well-being of pets all while enjoying the best quality of life. As an Associate Technician, Animal Care, you’ll be responsible for organizing and performing the necessary work related to the care, palatability, or nutritional testing of the pets under general supervision. We’ll count on you to practice safety in the work area, while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment.
Knowledge of and compliance with the Animal Welfare Act and the Nestlé Purina R&D Petcare Manual
Adherence to Nestlé Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
Organize and perform standard and non-standard litter or behavior tests according to the protocol submitted in the request
Accurately and reliably record data as outlined by the requesting project scientist
Obtain animal body weights/Body Condition Scoring (BCS) as required
Provide care including daily feedings of the pets, socialization and basic grooming
Report to the veterinary staff sick or unusual behavior observed in the pets
Perform all necessary cleaning and sanitation duties
Requirements
High School Diploma (or GED)
1+ years of animal handling/husbandry and/or regular care of animals
Other
Bachelors degree in Animal Science/Zoology or related field is preferredThe approximate pay range for this position is $38,000.00 to $59,000.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
