　　Duties: Use extensive knowledge of and experience with radio astronomy instrumentation, radio interferometry, high-frequency (20—50 GHz) radio astronomy observation, CASA (Common Astronomy Software Applications) package, AIPS (Astronomical Image Processing System) package, antenna interferometric holography, and astrophysics research, to develop new Very Large Array (VLA) capabilities and provide technical support for VLA observations. Characterize instrument performance and work with engineering and maintenance groups to identify and solve problems. Support VLA users in all scientific areas – including the design (and possibly testing, via the VLA) of the Next Generation VLA (ngVLA). Perform calibration and testing of existing observatory instruments. Support design, development, and testing for future telescopes and telescope capability, including writing requirements, project oversight, testing and commissioning of instrument. Assist in design, development, testing and documentation of software. Carry out an independently directed research program on scientific topics such as planetary science, stars, external galaxies, and/or cosmology, including time-variable phenomena.

　　Requirements: Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in astronomy, physics or related field plus three years of relevant teaching or research experience reflecting demonstrable ability in the skill set described above. Skill set does not need to be maintained over the full term of required experience.
