Responsibilities Responsible for assisting in the delivery of a comprehensive Human Performance and High Intensity Tactical Training (HITT) program. Incumbent will participate in local HITT in-house training by attending the HITT for Small Unit Leaders (HSUL) course. Serves as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach (ASCC) by supporting units, Marines, and Force Fitness Instructors (FFIs) with programming, coaching organized class sessions, teaching sections of the HSUL course, perform and record human performance assessments, facilitate workshop clinics, and conduct HITT/lifting club challenge competitions. ASCC shall support a comprehensive Human Performance program for service members assigned to the Body Composition Program (BCP), to include instructional Remedial Unit Physical Training classes for military units. Organize and conduct human performance assessments to include screening and risk stratification, body fat percentage, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and blood pressure. Provide individualized exercise plans, instruction and consultation on proper exercise techniques to individual and groups, and implementation and maintenance of a strength and conditioning program to improve aerobic capacity, muscular strength, body composition and flexibility. Incumbent will work with populations deemed to be healthy, with no health risk factors, and who were not referred by a physician. ASCC shall demonstrate effective coaching presence and attitude. Teach and demonstrate strength and conditioning fundamentals, identify technical performance deficiencies and provide corrections to exercise users. Provide effective visual cueing and verbal feedback. Maintain personal fitness and demonstrate quality movement. Utilize available human performance technology to inform programming, assess performance, and report periodic performance changes. Regularly participate in staff training, scheduling, and other meetings to support the program. Ability to learn and utilize effective data collection and storage software platforms. Regularly monitor and roam the fitness facilities during peak/non-peak usage times, assigned to high-traffic free-weight/cardio rooms and indoor/outdoor HITT Centers. Register patrons, collect program fees, and maintain attendance and appropriate accounting records. Ensure all fitness health, safety, and instruction measures are followed by spotting or providing assistance to customers when needed. Assists in cleaning and maintaining exercise and assessment equipment, inventory management, and security of fitness facility property. Coordinates the usage of Health and Wellness Centers (HAWC), HITT Centers, HITT performance lockers, and fitness facilities to accommodate the program. Answers telephones and receives visitors to provide assistance in response to inquiries. Refers callers to appropriate contacts depending on subject matter. Assists in the implementation of the Semper Fit Health Promotion program core elements, which include physical activity, injury prevention, nutrition education and dietary supplements, weight management, sleep health and performance, cognitive enhancement, tobacco cessation, chronic disease prevention, and sexual health and responsibility. Assists in coordination of activity calendar planning, marketing outreach, and overall program delivery in support of promoting healthy lifestyles and decreasing the overall risk for injury and destructive behaviors. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 60lbs independently and objects over 60lbs with assistance. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. One year of experience within the health/fitness industry is preferred. Must be able to coach and demonstrate strength and conditioning fundamentals and exercise technique. Ability to work with others within a broad range of environmental and physical conditions. Possess and maintain a basic level certification from a nationally accredited certifying organization from American Council on Exercise (ACE), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) or National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or obtain within 6 months of hire. Possess and maintain specialized or advanced certifications from NSCA Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitator (TSAC-F), NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist (NASM-PES), NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist (NASM-CES) or USA Weightlifting Coach Level 1 - (USAW-L1) or obtain within 12 months of hire. Possess First Aid, CPR, and AED certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or obtain within 6 months of hire.
