Job Description
The Department of Curriculum & Instruction in the College of Education and Human Development seeks applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Literacy at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2024. A regional comprehensive university, Texas A&M University-San Antonio (A&M-SA) has approximately 7000 students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs, including the MS in Reading.
Part of the statewide Texas A&M University System, the University is a Hispanic-serving institution .
Quality performance will be expected in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service. The standard teaching load for tenure-track faculty is 3 courses per semester (3/3). Summer teaching assignments may be available for additional pay but are not guaranteed. Successful candidates will teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in literacy-focused topics such as the science of teaching reading, oral language development, content area reading, dyslexia, language arts methods, etc. Teaching assignments may include day, night, and/or weekend classes.
Required Education and Experience:
Doctoral Degree from a regionally accredited institution in Literacy education or a related field in education
K-12 teacher certification with a minimum of 1 year of K-12 teaching experience
Experience working with all types of students.
Preferred Education and Experience:
University teaching experience for a minimum of 1 year
Experience with instructional technologies such as learning management systems and e-portfolios
