Job Description:
The Department of Biological Sciences seeks to fill a full time, non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction for an Anatomy and Physiology Laboratory Instructor / Laboratory Coordinator for Principles of Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II ( BIOS 1300/1310). This introductory two-semester course sequence is required for students in our nationally ranked nursing program and a variety of other non-biology majors at Ohio University. The candidate will have experience in undergraduate teaching and in the planning and coordination of laboratory instruction and logistics in Anatomy and Physiology. Additionally, the successful applicant will teach weekly lab-preparation lectures in a large classroom setting, supervise undergraduate assistants, and work with the lecture instructor and graduate teaching assistants to coordinate instruction. Human cadaver management, preservation, and prosection skills are desirable. Further responsibilities will include service to the department, college, or university as well as advising students in the Biological Sciences department.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Biological Sciences or closely related area by the start date of appointment.
Capability to teach Anatomy and Physiology for pre-nursing and other majors.
A demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English at a native or near-native level.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD or equivalent in Biological Sciences or closely related area.
Experience as a lecturer and laboratory coordinator for anatomy and physiology for undergraduate students.
Experience in training and mentoring undergraduate and graduate teaching assistants, and human cadaver management, preservation, and prosection.
