UWSP\'s Graphic Design(GD) program is part of an established NASAD accredited program in aSchool of Design and Communication (SDC) within a College of Fine Arts &Communication (COFAC). The SDC combines Graphic Design, IntegratedStudio Arts, Interior Architecture, Media Studies, and ProfessionalCommunication. We are seeking designers with an MFA or equivalent degreewho have interest in teaching GD curriculum throughout the School ofDesign and Communication. We are eager to create learning opportunitiesin design education that prepare students for the complex and emergingchallenges in the 21st century. A successful candidate will approachcommunication design broadly and be able to teach some aspects of designthinking, experience and user-centered design, systems and strategies,design research, understanding audience and user experience, utilizingimage and text, and storytelling narratives. Effective written andverbal communication skills are required. Technical expertise withindustry software is expected. The candidate should be able teach at alllevels of the Graphic Design program with specific strengths in somecombination of the following: design foundations, typography, branding,marketing, promotions, public relations, copywriting, social mediapractice, illustration, book arts, time-based work, environmentalgraphic design, wayfinding, information design, publication and packagedesign, user experience and user interface, augmented reality, currentand emerging digital platforms and entrepreneurial approaches. We areseeking candidates who are passionate about teaching, the primary focusof this position. The teaching load is four courses per semester (4/4).Classes meet twice a week for 1 hour and 50 minutes. Along with theprioritized 4 /4 teaching load, service and on-going scholarship isexpected, concurrent with the teaching load.
