  Assistant Principal of Grades 3-5

  Responsibilities

  Supporting and Coaching Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade Teachers

  Provide curriculum support and training for all teachers and continuous staff development;

  Observe classrooms, live coach teachers, and lead individual coaching meetings to support teachers with implementing their weekly action step;

  Model and coach instructional methods in a variety of settings (whole group and small group);

  Model and live coach Amplify skills, Amplify knowledge, Eureka math, and EL Education (for 5th grade) lessons.

  Conduct classroom walkthroughs and provides feedback to teachers and leaders;

  Ensure teacher mastery of foundational reading, writing and math skills

  Curriculum and Instruction

  Serve as the main point of knowledge and support for our third, fourth, and fifth grade curriculum;

  Participate in shared planning and internalization protocols with teachers and the department to help teachers adjust curriculum to best meet students' needs;

  Facilitate vertical and horizontal collaborative instructional planning;

  Facilitate trainings for teachers around curricular and instructional best practices;

  Support teachers with putting the cognitive load on students;

  Provide lesson plan and lesson internalization feedback;

  Assist with the planning and delivery of parent workshops and informational sessions involving the K-2 curriculum, instruction, and intervention;

  Participate in parent conferences and provide instructional suggestions;

  Ensure academic excellence and data is displayed visually (word walls, data walls, bulletin boards with student work, etc.)

  Data Analysis and Action Planning

  Assess students using a variety of measures to determine appropriate placement and specific instructional needs;

  Disaggregate and analyze student data to inform instruction, “just in time” interventions, and teacher practice;

  Collaborate with SpED, ESL, and EB teachers to ensure all students are successful including providing flexible grouping interventions based on data analysis;

  Work with teachers to analyze data and make adjustments to curriculum and instruction;

  Present data findings and action steps to the leadership team;

  Work with intervention coordinator and UH tutors to create clear timelines for intervention and ensuring students more than 1.5 grade levels behind get immediate, high-touch intervention in the first three months of school;

  Support all teachers in ensuring 95% of students leave kindergarten and first grade on grade level

  Schoolwide Support

  Complete all necessary school wide duties for the successful and orderly functioning of the school (e.g., hallway/bathroom supervision, arrival/departure transitions, participation in field trips, etc.);

  Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior to ensure that students observe the School's core values, high expectations, and code of conduct;

  Share responsibility for grade-level and school-wide activities;

  Effective use of technology as a communication and educational tool to improve student achievement and manage work related tasks;

  Implement our school wide behavior system, routines and procedures and utilize our tracking system;

  Participate in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, before and after-school duties, and school wide meetings and functions;

  Engage in summer and year-long district, school and personal learning and development;

  Participate in other duties as assigned

  Qualifications

  A minimum of two years teaching in high-performing urban schools with exemplary student results.

  A demonstrable commitment to pursuing equity.

  A strong track record of experience and results as an educator.

  Ability to multi-task and work within an ambiguous, fast-moving, start-up environment, while driving toward clarity and solutions.

  Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred.
