Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Associate or Assistant Director, Client Services, leads all aspectsof the client services team, to include strategic planning, hiring,managing and developing employees, networking with on-campus andoff-campus constituencies, and balancing student-centered services withadherence to federal regulations.

Level Scope:
Spends the majority of time (50% or more) achieving organizationalobjectives through the coordinated achievements of subordinate staff.Manages experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independencein assignments. Establishes departmental goals and objectives, functionswith autonomy. Manages the accountability and stewardship of human,financial, and often physical resources in compliance with departmentaland campus wide goals and objectives. Ensures subordinate supervisorsand professionals adhere to defined internal controls with a focus onpolicy and strategy implementation. Manages systems and procedures toprotect departmental assets and requires practical knowledge in leadingand managing the execution of processes, projects and tactics within onearea.
Essential Functions:
60% of the time:
Manage a team with a focus on counseling students and families inperson, via email, and via phone regarding all matters pertaining toaccessing scholarships and financial aid from all sources.Remain current on all federal regulatory requirements and programchanges relative to all forms of aid for which students arequalified.Maintains effective and comprehensive customer service amongst afast-paced and engaged department with a high volume of contact fromcampus constituents.Serve as a primary resource for information, research challenges andissues, communicate with appropriate constituents, and formulateoptions for resolution that ensure compliance with federal, state,and institutional laws, policies and regulations.Manage Professional Judgment decisions on a case-by-case basis forstudents and/or families with unusual circumstances.Supervise and manage client services staff. Manage staff priorities,assignments and workload.Educate and train new staff on scholarship and student financial aidpolicies and procedures.Serve as a liaison between multiple stakeholder groups and isresponsible for continuous communication and networking to sharefinancial aid and scholarship information.Establish positive working relationships with all members of theleadership team, campus departments, government agencies, andvendors35% of the time:
Inspire, encourage and contribute new ide s for continuouslyimproving client services.Write and maintain policies and procedures.Collaborative planning for implementation of new federal programsand regulations.Assist with regulation compliance review, audits, strategicplanning, implementing initiatives, and department assessmentactivities.Contribute to public relations and outreach activities, includingpresentations, new student events, and admissions initiatives.Manage staff performance by providing regular feedback andcompleting annual performance evaluations.5% Perform other duties as assigned.
