Assists with hiring and training of newdepartment associates Finalizes and approves weekly work schedule forassociates Assists with performance reviews of associates Documentsviolations of company policies/procedures by associates and conductsappropriate corrective action, up to and including termination Answersquestions and provides guidance to all Wine and Spirits departmentassociates Ensures all department standards are being met in the Wineand Spirits department. Observes sales floor and back stock conditions;takes action to correct areas of opportunity Maintains appropriateinventory levels and ensures accurate pricing on products received andsold Communicates and works cooperatively vendors, Wine and SpiritsManager, and Wine and Spirits associates to maintain standards andexceed guest expectations Provides customer service to guests. Assistsguests with finding items they are looking for on sales floor Takesorders and other special requests Answers the telephone and assistscallers using proper phone etiquette Addresses guest concerns andresolves issues when a guest is not satisfied with the service orproduct received Checks out customer purchases on a cash registerAssists all department associates with daily responsibilities whileleading by example. Develops associates to prepare for advancementopportunities. Contributes to overall cleanliness of the department bypicking up, organizing, and cleaning work areas, shelving, and salesfloor as needed. Responsible for the department\'s timekeeping accuracy.Communicate to HR regarding any missing time, transferred hours, andschedule issues. Ensure all quality standards are being met, includingquantity expectations at 100% by 10 am and 5 pm. Other duties asassigned. Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the workschedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasionalabsences. Understands being in a leadership role andhow to motivate a team of individuals. Thorough knowledge of the retailfood business and wine and spirits department operations is stronglypreferred. Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with customers andall personnel. Ability to make timely and effective decisions in theabsence of the Wine and Spirits Department Manager. Good oral andwritten communication skills and the ability to handle a diverse crew ina stressful environment. Thorough understanding of all safetyrequirements and company safety policies. Must possess the ability toapply on-the-job safety training to recognize and react to possiblesafety hazards on store premises. Also requires proper training andknowledgeof the following equipment/procedures: handjack,baler,forklift, pallet jack, trash compactor, proper liftingtechniques,and proper scanning techniques.
