The University of Illinois College of Law is seeking two AssistantDirectors for its Graduate International Program. These positions arebased in Champaign, IL and require a routine presence in the LawBuilding.
Job Summary
Provide a broad range of recruiting, advising, and teaching services andprogramming to graduate and international students and alumni of theUniversity of Illinois College of Law.
Duties Responsibilities
Recruitment, Advising, Mentoring
-Provide one-on-one academic advising to international law studentsand alumni to help ensure they make steady academic progress.
-Assist applicants and students in understanding the structure andrequirements of College degree and professional programs.
-Provide ongoing advising support for students with increasedavailability at critical and high-volume advising times such asmid-semester deadlines, priority course registration periods, andother designated times throughout the academic year.
-Foster relationships with faculty and other College and Universityresources.
-Oversee and facilitate programming sponsored by the Graduate andInternational Office.
-Connect current students to alumni mentors appropriate for thestudent's preferred practice areas/setting/market.
-Assist in recruiting domestic and international students via 1:1outreach, by attending recruitment fairs in other countries, andthrough similar initiatives.
-Participate in the management of partnership agreements with otherinstitutions.
-Assist with advertising campaigns and develop marketing tools.
Teaching
-Teach two sections of Law 500 (or the equivalent) per academic year
-Provide educational programming throughout the year
Administrative Responsibilities
-Support functions of graduate and international office
-Participate in the Office's strategic planning efforts.
-Other related duties as assigned
Travel Requirements
5% Occasional for job fairs, employer visits, or professionaldevelopment seminars
Minimum Qualifications
Juris Doctor from a U.S. law school and maintenance of active barlicense. Strong interest in mentoring and counseling of law students.Two years of similar experience in higher education.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with academic and immigration landscape for internationalaudiences. Some legal practice experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills required.Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible afterDecember 1, 2024. The salary range for these positions is $60,000 to$70,000. No relocation assistance will be provided.
