The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking an Assistant Director of Health Equity Strategies within the Office of Health Equity (OHE) to perform an essential role in advancing health equity initiatives for vulnerable populations across the Commonwealth. You will serve as the driving force behind the Interagency Health Equity Taskforce (IHET) and strategic plan, collaborating with policy workgroup leaders to propel forward a comprehensive portfolio of interventions addressing health inequities. As the Assistant Director of Health Equity Strategies, you will co-manage external stakeholder meetings, cultivating relationships with potential partners in health equity endeavors, spanning foundations, non-profits, associations, academia, and various public and private entities. Your leadership will be instrumental in tracking IHET workgroup progress, supervising external stakeholder engagement, and managing diverse workstreams. In addition, you will lead the day-to-day implementation of IHET's strategic plans, fostering effective structures, coordinating workstreams, and utilizing iterative project management cycles to achieve short, medium, and long-term objectives. Join us in making a tangible impact on health equity, where your leadership will play a crucial role in driving positive change for the communities we serve. /_Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_/ * Co-manage external stakeholder meetings and build relationships across potential partners in health equity work, including foundations, non-profits, associations, academia, and other public and private entities. * Supervise tracking of IHET workgroup progress, management of external stakeholders, meeting preparation and management by direct report(s); share accountability with IHET workgroup leads in achieving progress on deliverables. * Lead day-to-day implementation of IHET strategic plans. Ensure effective structure and cadence of IHET workgroups, promote alignment and coordination of workstreams, collaboratively troubleshoot when appropriate. * Manage intersectional relationships in promoting IHET’s success, recognizing the cultural and operational differences across different agencies and emergent situations. * Provide supervision to the Manager of Health Equity Strategies and other IHET project management team staff members. /_Preferred Qualifications:_/ * Master’s in Public Health. * Understanding of social determinants of health and a strong commitment to health equity, particularly racial equity, and environmental justice. * Strategic thinking skills, including the ability to accurately assess quantitative and qualitative information while remaining flexible and adaptable. * Critical thinking skills, including the ability to assess practicality of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. * Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills, including the ability to structure and direct multiple work streams interdependently, and respond to competing interests under time constraints. * Ability to present clear and concise information to diverse audiences. * Proven ability to guide planning for short, medium, and long-term objectives. * Experience supporting or leading the implementation of strategic plans in a highly matrixed environment. * Experience in health communications or related field such as public health, social services, or public administration. * Strong technical proficiency and usage of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook. * Working knowledge of government. /_MA Department of Public Health Overview:_/ The mission of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) is to prevent illness, injury, and premature death, to assure access to high-quality public health and health care services, and to promote wellness and health equity for all people in the Commonwealth.
