The Behavioral Health Advanced Practitioner is responsible forevaluating and diagnosing patients with mental illness followingestablished standards of practice. This position shall be authorized tomake independent decisions about advanced practice clinical needs ofpatients and mental health decisions based on authorization fromcollaborative practice with psychiatrist.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Interviews patient about symptoms and complaints to determine the basesof condition.
Responsible to manage acute and chronic mental illness through careplans that are coordinated, when appropriate, with the patient\'sprimary care provider.
Responsible to make appropriate referrals to internal disciplines ofCHC/SEK and/or external resources/agencies for additional servicesrequired.
Prescribes medications for patients for treatment of conditions incollaboration with psychiatrist or primary care providers.
Monitors patient on medication for their use and documented treatmentresults.
Responsible for accurate, timely, and clear medical recorddocumentation.
Observes clinic protocols and guidelines and scope of practice asdetermined by professional regulatory agencies.
Supervises healthcare students as assigned.
Provide appropriate follow-up with clinical support staff to includetelephone/written correspondence (e.g. inform patients of test results).
Provides clear written and oral communication to patients/guardians, andemployees.
Participates in quality improvement activities.

Demonstrate knowledge of the rationale of appropriate patient care.
Communicates through appropriate channels. Use proper chain of commandfor patient complaints.
Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
Must be computer literate and able to navigate the Electronic HealthRecord.
Must be able to maintain good inter-personal relationship withco-workers and other members of the health care team and theorganization.
Provide customer service in accordance to the organizations mission.
Be courteous and respectful when interacting with patients and familymembers.
Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance to organizations policyand procedure and HIPAA requirements.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure,using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
