We are better together and together We Are Altasciences.About The RoleManages the activities of the VS Support Team and ensures a consistent supply of animals needed for scheduled study starts, compliance with animal welfare regulations while prioritizing animal quality, animal welfare, and cost savings. This position will work cross functionally with Veterinary Services, Project Managers, Study Directors and Business Development to ensure the availability and delivery of the required animals for the timely execution of the studies.What You'll Do HereMaintains Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) when applicable.Manages end points of non-study animals in conjunction with veterinary and scientificservices to ensure that animals are assigned to training, blood/tissue collections, and animal sales to give each individual the highest quality of life.Supervises the VS Support Team. Includes but is not limited to:Forecasts animal numbers and ensures supply for upcoming needs.Coordinating the purchase and sale of study animals.Managing client and internal inquiries on biorepository, tissue and blood collections.Maintain relationship with vendors, including the implementation and management of supplier contracts and client colonies.Schedule IACUC meetings and maintain IACUC meeting minutes.Renew licenses and registration for animal welfare regulatory bodies, including theUSDA, PHS, and AAALAC.Ensure timely submission and review of animal procedures, including upcoming and existing studies and SOPs.Manage electronic and paper animal health records, vendor and import records.Schedules procedures for Veterinary Services and routes all applicable paperwork.Schedules preventative health and study prep activities for stock and study animals as applicable.Provides Study Directors with documentation of animal specifications and origin.Serves as an animal welfare regulatory consultant for Study Directors, Veterinarians, andQA.Assists with investigations regarding animal welfare. Ensures documentation of all animalwelfare concerns reported to the IACUC.Performs other duties of the IACUC Administrator and the VS Support Team as needed.Ensures proper assignment of workload and training of the VS Support Team.Reviews, develops, implements, and maintains applicable procedures and policies.Provides in-depth knowledge of different species of research animals.Maintains the animal records database and provides routine reports on census data tomanagement.Develops and maintains reports regarding the animal census, usage, projections and related metrics as needed.What You'll Need to SucceedBachelor's degree or equivalent, is preferred.2+ years related administrative and/or research work experience2-4 years or related leadership experienceIntermediate-Advanced experience with MS Office; basic understandingof database structures and functionality.The ability to read and interpret documents such as animal welfare regulations, safetyrules, o
