Summary This position provides direct supervision in the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Unit, Maintenance and Repair Section of Engineering Service at the Dayton VA Medical Center (VAMC), Dayton, Ohio. The Dayton VAMC is comprised of approximately 224 acres, 70 existing primary buildings (approximately 1,600,000 sq. ft.) and has four geographically separated Community Based Outpatient Centers in Richmond, Indiana as well as Lima, Middletown and Springfield, Ohio. Responsibilities Duties include but are not limited to: Provides direct supervision in the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Unit. Determines priorities of work to ensure that all projects are accomplished as scheduled. Selects and assigns personnel to accomplish tasks based on knowledge and skills. Exhibits attention to detail and accuracy in using computers to input data required for reports. Provides technical direction and/ or help in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes. Inspects completed work for quality and work order requirements. Investigate work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determines causes. Implements corrective actions within authority to resolve work problems. Establishes performance standards. Initiates performance ratings and conducts counseling, if necessary. Establishes and coordinates overall leave schedule for the unit. Recommends and conducts training for subordinates. Knowledge of safety codes associated with equipment for which incumbent is responsible.
