OVERVIEW: Pratt Miller is looking for a Senior Aerodynamic Tools Engineer to join our championship team. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a passion and commitment for high quality aerodynamic development. Experience with wind-tunnel and real-world testing will be used to support the team in exceeding unique customer aerodynamic requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & SKILLS:
Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to all the following:
Support cutting edge aerodynamic data processing, analysis, and test methods for applications in motorsport, commercial highway, and new vehicle architecturesAttend aerodynamic tests and execute advanced flow measurementsMaintain and develop aerodynamic tools (software & hardware) used for on-road & track, wind tunnel testing and computational fluid dynamicsProcess/analyze data, draw conclusions, and report resultsWork closely with agile team of Aerodynamic Engineers, CFD Analysts, Design Engineers, and Model Makers to find performance for our customersPromote regular technology advancement in aerodynamic toolsAbility to interact with internal and external customers developing strong professional relationships ensuring repeat business opportunitiesAbility to communicate professionally, both verbally and in writingAbility to perform in a dynamic and fast paced environmentWork safely to comply with all business expectationsCustomer focused, service-oriented mindsetEDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems or Automotive Engineering (or equivalent)Minimum of 5 years of relevant experienceDetail oriented with a capacity to comprehend information quicklyAbility to stay focused on overall project goals and work self sufficientlyStrong analytical ability utilizing computational engineering toolsBackground in engineering testing environments and vehicle development programsDESIRED SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Advanced degree preferred
Background in precision measurements, mechanisms, robotics and controls
Expertise in developing engineering software tools and GUI interfaces using interpreted or compiled programming languages (Matlab, Python, R, VBA, Java, C variants, etc...)
Knowledge of relational databases, OOP, and advanced data analytics methods
Familiarity with data acquisition and data streams (CAN, TCP/IP, UDP, EtherCAT)
Experience using digital and analog sensors for flow field & pressure measurements
Proven ability in CAD design for mechanical systems
Participation in motorsports or collegiate engineering competitions such as Formula SAE
Understanding of wind tunnel test methods, especially rolling road facilities
