About Administrative Officer

  Summary About the Position: Serves as an Administrative Support and Staff Action Control Specialist within the office of the Secretary of the General Staff (SGS), Headquarters, US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC). This position is located in the US Army Special Operations Command, Command Section, Chief of Staff, Secretary of General Staff in Fort Liberty, NC. Responsibilities Processes staff actions that cut across multifunctional, organizational, command, agency and governmental lines. Maintains the automated suspense tracking system/status log for tracking and maintaining a complete audit trail and status of staff actions. Processes and follows-up on all correspondence and taskings throughout the Command, to ensure proper coordination, correctness, timeliness and completion of assigned actions. Interfaces with directorates and other command components for the coordination of responses within or external to Headquarters and ensures the appropriate coordination occurs. Serves as focal point within the Secretary of the General Staff (SGS) office for all administrative matters including planning and coordinating internal administrative operations, taskings and suspenses. Explains rules, regulations, policies and procedures; clarifies new procedures and provides guidance in the application of new administrative guidelines. Responsible for overseeing and managing the budget, to include forecasting, implementing, and reconciling. Ensures all civilian personnel actions follow local, Command and Department of the Army policies and procedures. Initiates, prepares and coordinates personnel actions within the organization and with CPAC to resolve issues and problems. Responsible for management and oversight of civilian time and attendance through the Automated Time Attendance and Production System (ATAAPS). Serves as the primary contact for the preparation and execution of all required training, to include the staff officer orientation brief, staff actions training, and other required established training. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience GS 7: One year of specialized experience which includes experience: 1) Assisting with the processing of staff and personnel actions. 2) Providing assistance in response to a wide variety of administrative procedures and taskings that occur in a military command. 3) Using various automated data bases. 4) Maintaining an automated suspense tracking system/status log. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience GS 9: One year of specialized experience which includes experience: 1) Processing staff and personnel actions. 2) Providing assistance in response to a wide variety of administrative procedures and taskings that occur in a military command. 3) Maintaining an automated suspense tracking system/status log. 4). Assisting with supply and procurement activities by ensuring compliance with procurement regulations and property accountability. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience GS-11: One year of specialized experience which includes experience: Processing staff and personnel actions; Participating in the resolution of a variety of problems related to the management of a military command, such as a Special Operations command; Evaluating the effectiveness, efficiency, or productivity of administrative programs; Providing staff advice or assistance in response to a wide variety of administrative procedures and taskings that occur in a military command; Reviewing budgetary reports for completion/accuracy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
