Responsibilities include: assisting with positioning and surgical prep of the patient, scrubbing and passing instruments or assisting for surgical procedures, preparing operating rooms with necessary equipment, instruments and supplies, maintaining supply inventory, and housekeeping duties as directed. Takes call as assigned by the Director of Surgical Services. Must maintain BLS certification. Must maintain CFSA certification.Education, Training and Experience:Successful completion of one or more of the following:A Surgical First Assistant must have completed an approved Surgical Assistant program (CAAHEP/ARC/STVSA accreditation agency) for Surgical Assisting or be grandfathered by appropriate board to obtain certification.Certification is required (NBSTSA, NCCSA, NIFA, or another equivalent certified surgical assistant program is required).
